Dental implants in Schaerbeek: a fixed, long-lasting replacement tooth
Losing a tooth is not just a question of appearance. The gap makes chewing harder, the neighbouring teeth tend to shift and the jawbone gradually shrinks. A dental implant replaces the missing tooth with a fixed solution, without touching the neighbouring teeth. At DENTOBEL, Rue Josaphat in Schaerbeek, we support you at every stage, from the initial assessment to the fitting of the permanent tooth.

What is a dental implant?
An implant is a small titanium screw placed in the jawbone, where the lost root used to be. Once it has integrated with the bone, it provides a solid support for a crown, a bridge or a denture. The result is as close as possible to a natural tooth, both in appearance and in how it feels when chewing.
When is an implant appropriate?
- to replace a single lost tooth, without having to prepare the neighbouring teeth as for a bridge;
- to replace several teeth with an implant-supported bridge;
- to stabilise a removable denture that moves or causes sore spots;
- to replace a tooth that is too damaged to be saved.

Can everyone have an implant?
Most adults can have an implant. However, the jaw must have finished growing, there must be enough bone and the gums must be healthy. Some situations need particular attention, such as smoking, certain general medical conditions or certain medications. That is why we always carry out a full assessment before recommending an implant.
The stages of treatment
- 1
Assessment and estimate
The dentist examines your mouth and takes X-rays to assess the bone. They explain the solution best suited to your case and give you a detailed estimate.
- 2
Placing the implant
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. The procedure is usually better tolerated than patients expect. Some discomfort and slight swelling may occur over the following days; we give you instructions to follow for good healing.
- 3
Healing
Over a period of a few weeks to a few months, depending on the case, the implant integrates with the bone. A temporary solution can be provided so that you are not left with a gap during this period.
- 4
Fitting the permanent tooth
Once the implant is stable, the permanent crown or denture is custom-made in a shade matched to your teeth, then fixed onto the implant.
Caring for your implant
An implant is brushed just like a natural tooth. Careful brushing, the use of interdental brushes and regular check-ups at the practice are the best ways to keep it healthy for many years.
The cost of an implant
The price depends on the number of implants, the type of tooth or denture fitted and any preliminary treatment required. You receive a detailed estimate after the assessment, before any procedure. Payment in instalments is possible: we agree on this together when the estimate is drawn up.
